COMMUNITY SERVICE AND PUBLICITY COMMITTEE, MEETING
- The Committee met October 6, 2007 at 10:00 AM in Department of Illinois Headquarters to review and update our program for the year 2007-2008.
- The Committee Members for the Legion year 2007-2008 and in attendance are:
1st. Division- Alfredas Galinaitis, Vice Chairman--Present 2nd. Division- John Davis, Member--Absent
3rd Division- Lomac Payton, Member--Present
4th Division-Don Madden, Chairman--Present
5th Division-Harry Rahlfs, Member--Present
- Our first order of business was to appoint a temporary secretary, Lomac Payton of the 3rd Division.
- Our committee welcomed a visit by Commander Kirby and Department Historian Bob Henderson. Commander Kirby wished all the best for the new American Legion year.
- Chairman Madden, Welcome the members to another year on the Community Service and Publicity Committee. We review our program booklet and identified areas that need updating, clarification, and general housekeeping to make the guidelines better. The specific changes are as follows:
- Removed list of possible projects from page 2 as it is redundant of the Department Commanders Community Service Award form.
- Update the 2007 Awards on Page 2.
- Add American Legion Riders to the Department Commanders Community Service Award form and add the statement in R E D "A MUST- please submit a brief explanation of each project along with the form!"
- Update the Past Hall of Fame Winners.
- Update all date entries for the new year.
6. The Community Service and Publicity committee is looking forward to another great year with a lot of participation.
