Minutes of the Citizens Flag Alliance Committee
The meeting of the Citizens Flag Alliance Committee was called to order by acting chairman Ray Iversen at 1:00 pm on October 6th 2007 at Department headquarters.
In attendance were Charles Flood, St Division, Ray Iversen, 3rd Division, Gerald Bundy, 4th Division, and Joe Rice, 5th Division.
It was announced that David Duval, longtime member and chairman of the Flag Alliance Committee passed away a few days ago. He will be greatly missed.
We talked about eliminating the Committee because there is nothing we can do to convince our 2 Senators to vote for the Flag Amendment and the amendment probably will not reach the Senate floor for a few years because Democrats control the committees.
Commander Myron and Vice Commander Bill came in the room. We told them what we had been discussing and Commander Myron agreed that the Committee is serving no purpose at this time. He did ask us to remain a Committee for an indefinite time in case the Committee is needed. It was moved and seconded the Citizens Flag Alliance Committee become an inactive Committee. Motion carried.
The Committee will urge the Department to promote the American Flag such as information on the program Champaign has in place, to recognize those who do a good job in honoring the flag.
Commander Myron appointed Gerald Bundy chairman.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:57 by acting Chairman Iversen.
