COMMUNITY SERVICE:  A WINNER IN THE GAME OF VOLUNTEERISM:

 

As long term Auxiliary Members you are all aware of the term Volunteering!  You have joined the Nations most successful volunteer group.  Your volunteerism takes many forms, helping out at your local schools, libraries, hospitals, blood banks, neighborhood watch groups, etc.  As in Basketball Teams we all have a position to play and a team to support.   Sooooo, as a Unit and a Member pick your position and your team and work to make "Community Service a Winner in

the Game of Volunteerism"

 

Several areas have been chosen by National to concentrate on this year, remember we can't do them all, so pick one or two and do your best.

 

(1)     COMMUNITY PROGRAMS:

         A   Welcome Home Troops

         B    Youth Appreciation Week

         C    Health Advocates

 

(2)     COLLABORATIVE PROGRAM EFFORTS:

         A    Make a Difference Day

         B    Habitat for Humanity

         C    Adopt-A-Highway

 

(3)     ADDITIONAL COMMUNITY PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES:

         A    Guide to Community Programs & Services

         B    Libraries

         C    Senior   Citizens Centers / Nursing Homes

FROM NATIONAL:

A.    President's Award for Excellence.

B.    Department Award.

C     Unit Awards.

D.    Senior Volunteer of the Year Award.

E.    Junior Volunteer of the Year Award.

F.    Award for Welcome Troops Home.

 

DEPARTMENT AWARDS:

(1)      SERVICE THROUGH HARMONY PLAQUE:  To the Unit for the best overall participation in the Community Service Programs.

 

(2)       AUDREY’S CAROUSEL RIDERS PLAQUE:  To the Community Service Volunteer of the year.

 

(3)       $5.00 Cash Award to the Junior Member receiving the Community Service Junior Volunteer of the Year Award (awarded at Department Junior Conference)

 

PERSONAL AWARDS:

(1)     Runner-up to Service Through Harmony Plaque ($10.00)

(2)     Runner-up for the Verna E. Biebel Community Service Plaque ($10.00)

(3)     $10.00 to the winner of the most outstanding single Unit Activity to one of the areas of focus as outlined by National.
