The team will make the move up to ARCA after competing in the 2009 ASA Challenge Series. Last year, the #76 team finished 9th in series points and watched their driver, Jerick Johnson, capture the series "Rookie of the Year" title. The very successful 2009 racing season would not have been possible however, had it not been for the outstanding sponsorship of The American Legion, and The David Law Firm. Team Johnson Motorsports is proud of its association with The American Legion and The David Law Firm, and it is excited to be bringing these two wonderful sponsors with them into the ARCA Series.

The American Legion is the world's largest Veterans organization. The #76 Freedom Car was so designated in recognition of our Nation's birthday of 1776, and to honor all those that have served our country, past and present. Team Johnson Motorsports and The American Legion/ David Law Firm "Freedom Car" race team is a program of The American Legion. The purpose of this program is to raise America's awareness of the programs that are conducted by The American Legion across the country, in support of our Veterans, active duty troops, and their families. It is also to attract the next generation of American Legion members.

The David Law Firm, of The Woodlands, TX, has helped countless Veterans receive the just compensation they deserve, for having suffered from Mesothelioma and lung cancers related to asbestos. On a daily basis, they provide educational information about Mesothelioma and lung cancers, in response to inquiries and have clients located in all 50 states.

Since the beginning of The American Legion racing program, team driver Jerick Johnson has made it his personal priority to use the program to draw attention to, and support, our military veterans. His ongoing "Operation Freedom Car", provides much needed hygiene items to our current active duty troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition, Jerick, the #76 show car and team, continue their efforts to visit VA Hospitals across our nation, delivering his message of support and thanks to our hospitalized veterans, VA staff, veterans' assistance personnel, and Legion volunteers.

Over the past few years, through his association with The David Law Firm, Jerick has become acutely aware of the large number of Veterans and their families who have been affected by lung cancer. This awareness has been further heightened by personal experiences that have touched him and his family. This year, Jerick has decided to expand the "Freedom Car" mission to include not only a message of thanks and support, but also one of awareness and encouragement to Veterans to win the fight against cancer. He will focus on education and empowerment to challenge Veterans and others to seek and take advantage of early lung cancer detection measures, and to discuss such concerns with a medical professional. He will also deliver a strong message of hope and support to those Veterans and family members that may be diagnosed or suffering from lung cancer by helping them become aware that there are compensation options available which can help them and their family, and insure their future security and peace of mind.

In conjunction with the planned 2010 ARCA racing schedule, The American Legion Race Team and The David Law Firm will be conducting the following events in each race city location.

  1. a. Veterans Service Officer "Thank You!" dinner.
  2. b. Show car and team appearance at a local American Legion Post.

The American Legion race team is actively looking for suitable locations in each of the scheduled race cities, and at other locations across the country, at which to conduct these events. If the "Freedom Car" is scheduled to race in your community, and you would like more details on how your American Legion Post can host an event, please contact us as shown below.

If the "Freedom Car" isn't scheduled to race in or near your community, but you're still interested in hosting such an event, we would be VERY interested in discussing the possibility. Just contact us by telephone or by e-mail as shown below.

The 2010 racing season will not be the first experience that Jerick and Team Johnson Motorsports have had with the steel bodied, 3400 lb ARCA race cars. Jerick drove in two (2) ARCA races in 2002 and ran five (5) NASCAR Busch (now Nationwide) series races in 2007. The ASA Challenge series success and experience gained in 2009, will serve The American Legion race team well during the 2010 ARCA season. The ARCA series is considered by most in the racing business, as the NASCAR "farm system". Those teams that achieve a measured level of success in the ARCA series usually move on to the well known NASCAR (Nationwide or Sprint) series racing. It is certainly possible and desired, that The American Legion / David Law Firm sponsored #76 "Freedom Car", do the same in the future. Our driver, Jerick Johnson, has the talent; Team Johnson Motorsports has the expertise and experience; and we have The American Legion and David Law Firm as sponsors. Put all of that together with the support of the largest patriotic "family" in the world, The American Legion "family", and you would have to agree, that the 2010 racing season is looking VERY promising for the #76 "Freedom Car". Well, there isn't must else to say except, "Let's go racing!" NO!
